huh, OK.  i thought winmodems had to be internal.  but maybe not :).
i'll see about opening it up.  but not right now.  later, when i get
a second modem i can use :).

would it still be a winmodem if it just works (when i plug it in to the
USB slot, linux automatically loads usb, usb-ohci, acm and CDCEther [
although CDCEther is a mistake and rmmod-ing it is OK])?  i mean, it
works.  it connects, i can surf.  it just gets confused if i do more
than one or two things at the same time.
