I'm not sure whether I'm parsing that sentence correctly.  What I mean
is that (e.g.) a Red Hat RPM installed onto Debian via alien will be
grossly in violation of Debian policy guidelines about directory
locations, naming conventions, interaction with other programs, etc.
And similar problems/limitations will arise with other conversions.

As the saying goes, better you than me.  I'd just compile and install
from tarballs, before doing that.  But good luck.
