Because from down here a lot of people look forward to the time they can
afford having to purchase 'high-end-tried-and-proven-it-works-so-well'
solutions, when they don't realise that affordable hardware can be used to
build systems with the same kind of reliability as the ones used by the
'big-and-moneyed'.

You would be surprised at just how many top-level decisions are based on
exactly what you said. Believe it or not a lot of TPTB in major
corporations choose to go the Microsoft way simply because nobody ever got
fired for choosing Microsoft.

No. There are solutions based on sound technical knowledge, and there are
those that are not. There are solutions based on past-previous-working-
tried-and-proven, versus the new-and-cheaper-but-just-as-reliable.

Nope. Sorry.

If you ever got that impression from my posts, then i apologise. Mine was
just to point out what i believe is technical solutions that are both
technically and economically sound.

I don't desire to change your mind, nor others with differing opinions as
mine, but i hope to at least put my message across so that people on the
list can have a better understanding of the issues involved.
