Unfortunately they are not.  Just take the case of D, E, G.
n(D cap E) != empty because there are Perl programmers who are also
bash programmers. Similarly for n(D cap G), n(D cap E cap G), etc.
The assumption of independence is a bit careless, but it does
simplify computations.
