That really is a form of discrimination. Find out if the company is an equal opportunity employer or not.
That's true, most of the UNIX progs are MALE. But it doesn't mean FEMALE developers are not competitive enough. Not being bias though. If by any chance, an expert FEMALE UNIX PROG happen to come across their ad, whose loss would that be? The employer's. :-) However, in fairness to the employers, some have considerable reasons in specifying their preference either on a male or female applicant. Sometimes it depends on the working environment, and the scope of the duties and responsibilities. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Orlando Andico Sent: Friday, October 04, 2002 14:09 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [plug] Job Ad: Unix Programmer On Fri, 4 Oct 2002, Brian Baquiran wrote: .. > > The applicant must be female, not more than 30 years old. > > Hey, isn't this age/sex discrimination? But my "prognostication" is that -- most UNIX/C programmers are MALE. So this was a lame attempt to "spruce up" their workplace -- and perhaps, add to the "victim^Mfemale prospect population." :D --- Orlando Andico <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mosaic Communications, Inc. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
