In case you missed the news, glibc-2.3 is out!
You can get if from the usual place

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/glibc/glibc-2.3.tar.bz2

The FAQ files states that this version should be
built with the latest gcc, which is gcc-3.2. Yes, you
can use gcc-3.2 to compile glibc-2.3, but after glibc-2.3
has been installed, you can not recompile gcc-3.2
without applying a special patch. Weird, but that's
the way these new things work.

When RedHat 8.0 came out, I heard trumpet blaring
and everyone was in a mad rush to get it. At least a dozen
posts were made here asking where one can get it,
and get it fast! Glibc-2.3 has been out for several days
but no one seems eager to get it. :(

For me the kernel, glibc, and gcc constitute the
"heart and soul" of a distribution. A new distribution
comes out and we rejoice. A new "heart and soul" comes
out, to make new distributions even better, and we . . .
