Weird... maybe gcc-3.3 won't have the need for the patch anymore :)

It might be because of the definitely long time and
arduous task to test every package linked to the C library
for stability concerns (aside from careful selection of
a stable kernel headers set, patching the kernel not to
scream with gcc-3.2 - at least for commercial distros,
which would entail lots of time to accomplish). Not a
task for the uninitiated.

I'll expect that the next RHL point release will have the
new C library anyway... maybe RH and the other distros
would have had concluded their QA on the new C library.

If glibc-2.3 was just a few days old... did RH shipped 
with a CVS snapshot of the C library for RHL 8.0?
