Not really, in fact i find that the investment i make in "pain",
results in an easier lifestyle for me, plus, i can sleep at night.

Never said slackware couldn't do it.  You are correct that we get the term
TARBALL mixed up.  Slackware has a rudimentary package manager, which
makes life a lot easier than './configure ; make ; make install'.
