Weird. Perhaps Cringely based this on the false premise that Windows coders can do a better GUI for Linux than KDE or Gnome. It's impossible for Windows coders to be doing a desktop GUI for Linux. It's more safe to expect that KDE will mature and eventually be the standard desktop GUI for Linux. No offense meant against Gnome users, but KDE evolves much faster because of the robust and elegant C++ engine beneath it. Subclassing is much easier and code-sharing more programmatically practical with Qt and KDE. By the way, if Robert Cringely is suffering from Windows GUI withdrawal pains, there are lots of free theme and icons on KDE Look.org that will dress up his KDE to look like XP. Gnome look may have similar themes and icons available. Regards, mikol _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
