hi,

that is because you are subscribed to the plug (aka 'the main technical list'). the plug list caters to highly technical discussions regarding linux but it still caters to desktop questions. if you think your question is simple enough then you could try posting it to the ph-linux-newbie mailing list. the 'official' protocol is to post newbie questions there and if there is no reply for a few days then it is escalated into the plug list (but almost nobody does that anymore). for a description of the available PLUG mailing lists, please visit http://plug.linux.org.ph/lists.html .

ciao!

Greetings Pluggers,

Having lurked this list for awhile, I am wondering if there is a forum for
people like me who want to see Linux as regular Desktop application and not
as a Server-only Platform.

The impression I get from most of the posts is that this is a forum for
system administrators and developers.

Has someone organized a forum for Philippine Linux Users who:
1. Do not work for IT Departments or Companies
2. Are not hackers
3. Simply want to use their computers for mundane tasks such as writing
novels or listening to music.

Not to put down the server community but if there is anyone else out there
for whom "squid" is pulutan and "server" the guy who brings it to your
table?

I suggest PLUG look into making a forum dedicated to Desktop and Multi-media
Linux users, if there are any out there.
