thanks! did that but still i got the same error messages. anyway, i think i've already fixed the the problem. i placed 'ide=nodma' in my bootloader and everythings ok already. now i wonder what the implication are with this 'ide=nodma setting..hmmm..

Myself, I always try to put an ide disk on its own channel
whenever i can (i.e., no slave whenever possible).
