ummm.. you could buy a new Conexant winmodem for 500 pesoses. surely that's not stretching the budget too much? just make sure it's HSF and not HCF. the former work (after a fashion.. cough cough) on Linux, eating about 100MHz of CPU in the process. yucky binary-only drivers.
