i can't pay it for a home system--for the 3 servers i have here
i cannot justify it--not for home use. Really. I'm not
kidding, and I have my reasons.

We do pay for up2date support for our collocated
server though (starting a biz with my friend). So we *do*
pay. We understand the need for it. We did
replace the kernel remotely so we appreciate up2date's power.

aint anymore. it stops working after a demo period, last time
I tried.

possibly. Havent checked that out yet though.

the RPM system becomes circular after many updates. You have
to intsall one package after another in a specific order.
it also comes to a point where one package needs another but
that other package needs the other one! I might be missing
a command switch or something but still, I havent been lucky
in this regard. So some packages of mine goes un-updated.

Of course I'm doing this manually at home and thats the biggest
reason i'm attracted to debian--i want to try that dpkg thing
that people keeps ranting about.

of course they are! (Did you see the IMHO in my post)

we're comparing distros and i'm just pointing
out som disadvantages. I did mention I use RH, right.
3 servers at home.

jeez lets lighten up shall we...i'm harmless!
