When I was using slower hardware, I made sure that
I was in single-user mode, and made sure that I gave
the "setterm -blank 45m" command, and that no major
process is running when I gave the "cdrecord ... image.iso"
command. This ensures that the buffers are never
emptied so that CD burning is an uninterrupted
single continuous write. I would not even think of
nice-ing the cdrecord command. But with our faster
hardware, one is tempted to run several processes with
the cdrecord command, and to even "nice" it. Is this
a dangerous thing, or is there no danger with fast
hardware?
