You know, I think it would help if we knew what kind of hardware you've got. Since you're posting to the main PLUG list I think you should be aware that kernel panics are often hardware-dependent. Sounds like a buggy driver for some bit of exotic or poorly-supported hardware that you happen to have. Another bit of relevant information you've conveniently left out is at what point in the normal boot process the panic occurs, because you've said that you can boot to single user mode. That would help but it's not something you bothered to mention. Please, everyone, listen. Next time anyone needs help diagnosing kernel panics or kernel oopses, please include all RELEVANT information that may allow us to help you. I'm tired of seeing vague posts like this one that contain almost no useful information that would help us give any kind of helpful response.
