I'm not sure about MIPS hardware, but I've tried network booting from other architectures such as Sparc and Alpha, so most likely you can install Debian from the network. If you can access the O2's firmware (assuming you don't have a locked firmware), have it setup to boot from the network (with IP addresses via DHCP, but YMMV). You must have a working setup of a tftp server though that would enable network installation of Debian.
