Ahh yeah. Now I remember. Boot from CD is the way to go. But I still think 
the miniroot method (might) work.

So buy yourself some IRIX install disks off eBay.

OTOH the O2 is an ancient machine. 180MHz R5000 anyone? that's like a 
Pentium 166. Unless you have the R10k based O2. In which case.. that's 
like a Pentium 233. Or maybe you have the Siemens R8k based O2.. Pentium 
II 300?

So, aside from the "sexiness" (only a geek would call it sexy..) of having 
IRIX, there's no value proposition to it. Even an old GeForce 256 has 
better geometry and texturing hardware.
