I'd rather call it an opinion rather than a fact:D Win32 also suffers
from a similar, though lesser degree of scattering (how about programs
registering their menus anywhere in the programs panel - talk about
consistency and orientation indeed).

There are times wherein X might hang but you can still kill the wayward
process via a remote connection. Can't do that on Win32, as the graphics
subroutines are directly bolted into the kernel, while X is a userland
process. 

It's been a long time though since I've seen a BSOD, although I often
see XP's "default" GUI theme leak memory till the system becomes
unusable (which is why I switch them back to the less-sightly theme when
I was still a sysad).

Nonetheless, both are show-stoppers in their own right.
