you'll note that edu manzano's optical media board has managed to get some legislation passed requiring burners to be registered.
sure i'll register mine. no prob. but that won't change anything. but if the additional reg fee is way over a hundred, then i'll lobby to sue that retard :)
i guess in the same way color copiers are regulated because they can produce (not very good, but good enough) counterfeit currency.
why not scanners?
so there goes the "cheaper burners.." idea
grrrrr
did you know that CD-R's sold in the MUSIC STORES are more expensive due to a tax on every CD-R imposed by the RIAA? of course a data CD-R
i thought it's the quality. i still think it's the quality.
can be used to store White Book audio and played in an audio CD player, but the principle is there.....
up next: every CD burner will read the barcode on the CD-R (they already do) and every CD-R manufacturer will have to put a unique serial on each CD-R for taxation purposes. Also, the CD burner will not write to this special CD-R unless you have the special AMI "DRM BIOS."
all for taxes. i see nothing that will protect the content with all these barcodes and bios bs. just alot of money grabbing.
it's all gonna happen, thanks to M$ DRM. which is the one compelling reason why open source should be adopted. :P
ahh.. thank god for hackers. cracks should be available like that dvd regional crack code in under a week... maybe less :)
i say to those liberty-grabbers and m$: bring 'em on! rrrrrrrr!
