Thanks for the hints. After running Knoppix, I tried `cat /dev/hda5 | strings -a | less` on the swap partition (/dev/hda5) when I tried to repartition the disk. The first part of the partition yielded text expected of a swap partition's contents, but what struck me is what I discovered as I scrolled downward - it seems that there's part of /dev/hda6 in that partition as I just saw the emails, dmesg entries, contents of configuration files... Would I still be able to retrieve the superblock for /dev/hda6 should it have resided somewhere in /dev/hda5 or it's not anymore possible as I may have overwritten it already? Or did I just misinterpret what I've read in the previous operation? -- Paolo Alexis Falcone [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
