andy, i understand clearly that ftp & nfs are clearly different but what i understood of bryan's problem was he wanted to access files on a box that he FTPs to,as a local mount. i also assume that he didnt want to start ftp (or scp or sftp over ssh whatever the case may be) each time he wants to transfer a file. now what he can try to do is export a certain directory(from the box he usually FTPs to) onto the client pc he works on,which can be done thru NFS,agree?
