I'm running Slackware-14.2/x86_64 (fully patched) with sane-1.0.29-x86_64-1
and xsane-0.999-x86_64-1 rebuilt and reinstalled this morning.

The Canon CanoScan LiDE400 is connected to a USB port on the front of the
desktop case where sufficient power is available. I feel vibration on the
scanner cover so it's up and running.

When I try invoking xsane a window flashes (probably the one reporting it's
searching for devices) and is immediately replaced by one reporting 'no
device found.'

This all worked before and I would appreciate suggestions on diagnosing what
went wrong so I can fix it and scan some documents this morning.

If it matters, /usr/share/sane/xsane/ is empty; there is no icon or other
file there.
