Ok, couple funny things. They recommend building a tar pit in your back yard. That happens to be funny. Another recommendation was to chop down most of our forests and bury them deep inside cement bunkers. It's funny because of how ridiculous it sounds, and its funny because it might be a better way to solve the greenhouse effect then recycling. Remember taking large amounts of carbon out of the atmosphere does much more then just recycling or slowing down the introduction of carbon. One more funny thing is that the greenhouse effect isnt really for sure so to go to the extreme like "tar pits" makes me laugh

As for recycling being a bad thing, that's junk science. Although we
have really be careful with energy and pollution economics here.

Just to clarify. If recycling material causes a net increase in carbon
emissions (burning of diesel fuel, electricity generation), then that
can actually be more detrimental to the environment that manufacturing
new material. This ignores the environmental impact of landfills, toxic
runoff, etc, which are as serious as the rest of it all. So we'll
always be making trade-offs. More carbon emissions for cleaner ground
water, etc.
