I bought some Shure E2c's several months back when Amazon had them for $49 shipped. I prefer ear buds over ear cans for their portability. The E2c's have excellent sound isolation and good sound. I frequently use them on airplanes (even without music) to drown out the noise. They sound nice and clear, but don't have booming bass. Over-ears tend to have better bass response if that is important to you. Everybody has different wants and needs, but the E2c's match up pretty well with mine.
