This works ok for me so it looks like an mplayer bug but I wouldn't know where to start to debug it. I assume other streams work ok for you. I don't know if it is relavent but when I first tried this, before 17:00, Derby was not broadcasting live (there was a recorded message). It is broadcasting now, at 17:05, could you try again.
