I think we are now using the same PC!! I have copied the mplayer stuff from my server to a desktop box. The results are still the same (see below). In the meantime, I have gone through a reinstallation of AlienBBC, mplayer and the CODECs. mplayer.exe -vo null -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1 "rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/bbc7/live/bbc7_dsat_g2.ra" MPlayer 1.0pre7-3.4.2 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel Pentium 4/Xeon/Celeron Northwood (Family: 8, Stepping: 4) Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0 Compiled with runtime CPU detection - WARNING - this is not optimal! To get best performance, recompile MPlayer with --disable-runtime-cpudetection. Playing rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/bbc7/live/bbc7_dsat_g2.ra. Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash. - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen. It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug. I'm conscious that it is telling me to recompile with a debug flag. Not sure I have the wherewithall to do that in a Windows environment. Perhaps there is a step-by-step guide somewhere? Out of interest, I have tried both URLs in RealPlayer and both work fine. Meanwhile, all ideas greatly appreciated!!
