I think we are now using the same PC!! I have copied the mplayer stuff
from my server to a desktop box. The results are still the same (see
below). In the meantime, I have gone through a reinstallation of
AlienBBC, mplayer and the CODECs.

mplayer.exe -vo null -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: open_stream
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. Details in
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in
your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We
can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a
possible bug.

I'm conscious that it is telling me to recompile with a debug flag.
Not sure I have the wherewithall to do that in a Windows environment.
Perhaps there is a step-by-step guide somewhere?

Out of interest, I have tried both URLs in RealPlayer and both work
fine.

Meanwhile, all ideas greatly appreciated!!

Nick
