You probably will need to clear your library, but that shouldn't be necessary for slimserver to see MusicIP. You do need to make sure that the API service is enabled and running, on the same port that Slimserver is expecting, and that the MMM plugin is enabled. You should also have a button to click in Server Settings on the web interface to make SS make the connection...
