You can add any file to a playlist as long as the path in the playlist
file is the one seen by slimserver.
If your music library is setup in slimserver as e.g. /mnt/music and you
have it mapped as e.g. G:\ on another computer slimserver will not
recognize any playlists created on the non-slimserver computer because
the path G:\... is not a valid one for slimserver. However, you can
manually edit the playlist file and change the G:\ part of the path to
/mnt/music.
Regarding untagged files: There is a setting in slimserver to guess
tags based on file name and directory structure. You might want to
check this out. It's under Server settings - Formatting - Guess tags
format. Most likely your untagged files are actually already in the
database but since slimserver has to guess tags they are not listed
where you would expect them to be. Again, the Guess tag option might
solve this issue. Whenever you play a file it is automatically inserted
into the db if it isn't there already.
One minute for a single page in Browse Music Folder is a very long
time. Do you keep all your files in a single directory without
subfolders? Browsing would be much faster if you organized them in
subfolders e.g. artist/album/track
You can also limit the number of items per page under Server settings -
Interface - Items per page.
Currently there isn't any plugin to add tracks from windows explorer
but the idea has been discussed recently in another thread.
