Like a record stuck in the groove, I would suggest to buy a rpi3b and
stick LMS on that and point it to the files on the Qnap.
I too have only a little (is a dangerous thing) knowledge of linux but I
don't think you can easily install apt-get on the Qnap and that would be
the simple way to do it
Or use pCP - where you install LMS with two mouseclicks.
