Hm, honestly, this sounds a bit like the NAS is a bit underpowered for the job. I dont know how much CPU load the AirPlay bridge causes but especially is theres transcoding involved it could be quite a bit. Im also not sure how fast the AirPlay bridge is for volume changes. For actual streams AirPlay alone introduces a 2s latency but I dont know whether that also applies to volume changes. Think i have to give it a try. Not that I can do a lot about it from the iPeng side ...
