Do you use any volume normalization or replay gain plugins? This is a really weird effect and Ive never seen it or heard about it. There are sometimes volume issues for some people when entering or leaving the App with preserve connection on and there can be issues when connecting to external audio hardware but this sounds different. I wonder whether its somehow related to the lag you are seeing or whether its something related to the AirPlay Bridge plugin
