I was able to reproduce the high frequency beep on all my systems (I
checked to desktop PCs and two notebooks):
- Play mp3 (64kbit, 22.050Hz)
- Pause
Here's an audio sample.

a. FLAC (96kHz/24bit)
b. mp3 (22.050Hz/64kbit)
What I did also find: A "normal" FLAC (44.1kHz/16bit) caused this small
sound output when paused I mentioned earlier.
On pause:
- mp3 (22.050Hz/64kbit) -> very loud noise
- mp3 (44.1Hz/320kbit) -> low noise, not audible (but visible in the
sound mixer)
- FLAC (44.1kHz/16bit) -> low noise, not audible (but visible in the
sound mixer)
- FLAC (96kHz/24bit) -> no noise
