Michael,

I ran into trouble attempting to modify the /etc/init.d/slimserver
script to add the chown command before the chmod commnad. I get an
error that I am attempting to change a file in a read-only file
system.

I note that in /etc/init.d that slimserver ->
/KNOPPIX/etc/init.d/slimserver

So, I tried putting the change into a copy of the script in
/etc/init.d, the copy was named slimserverTmp. Then I made the link
slimserver -> slimserverTmp.

After rebooting my SlimCD machine, I found that /etc/init.d had been
rewritten from /KNOPPIX again, so the change was wiped out, and I was
back in the original state again.
