Thanks Michael, I think the addition to bootlocal.sh has taken care of the problem, and I got my a my first bath in the Linux OS too.
I like it! My next step will be to scan my 8,000 track music library running SlimCD on my USB pen drive. Before I do this, I am wondering where the database and other Slimserver parameters will be stored on my 1 GByte USB pen drive? Is it going to be included into backup.tar.gz or someplace else when I do a shutdown? Another question: If I were to purchase a nano-ITX machine, say something like http://damnsmalllinux.org/store/Mini_ITX_Systems/Damn_Small_Machine with a 1 GByte IDE flash drive, do you think I would have any trouble installing SlimCD onto the flash? I assume the IDE flash would appear as /dev/hda1, but I don't know. I may be pushing SlimCD beyond what you intended for it, but I think that if this will work, it is the perfect solution to the "Music Server" problem for driving an SB3.
