The problem is that although you DNS is working - there is a part of Slimserver (asynch http) which tested DNS at startup and has decided that DNS is not working and it never re-tests.
I've seen it before but when RAI worked I was confused. Usually a restart without reboot cures it but there must be something about your set-up which is unusual or Slimserver is not being allowed to query the DNS servers.
