That's great, this means that the Custom Tag module is able to 
successfully scan your tags when the tables are empty.

Yes, the log you are seeing from the web interface is truncated, to get
the complete log you need to log to a file. You can do this by starting
SlimServer with the --logfile parameter, for example:
slimserver.pl --logfile=/tmp/slimserver.log

On my Ubuntu machine this is already done in the start script in
/etc/init.d/slimserver, and put puts the log in
/var/log/slimserver.log, so this may also be the case on the NAS
installation.
