I downloaded the latest .deb package from http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/7.0/ and just clicked on it. That fired up the ubuntu package installer which did everything else. All dead easy!
That was yesterday, today I have added the slim repository to the package manager and used apt-get update and apt-get install slimserver to update to last nights version of slimserver 7. I just restart the whole PC to start Slimserver, that was all done for me as well by the install. Actually I have since tried to use *init.d/slimserver restart* but that fails as it says I'm not allowed to do that as root? Also tried Stop of course and then start, but that seemed to start a second instance of slimserver which than dies, so doesn't look like the stop worked. I'm afraid I'm not really up to speed with Linux and especially the way the slimserver files seem to be scattered all over the place. Documentation all seems to assume expert Linux knowledge from the start, so I'm not sure how its all supposed to work yet, making PD more difficult. lol FYI. The PC is a Koolu net appliance that came with Ubuntu 7.04 pre installed. It's sole purpose is to run slimserver. ( Which apart from this minor AlienBBC problem it is doing extremely well indeed! Well I'm impressed with it anyway. ) Cheers Alan -- alanj Cheers Alan SB3 -> Cyrus 6vs -> KEF iQ7 SB2 -> Super T amp -> Mission 771 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ alanj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2017 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40130 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
