Hi bpa and others - I'm having difficulty reliably starting AlienBBC streams. I touched on it briefly in http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44645 since the symptoms at least were the same - but I appreciate now that the cause will be different, so I am starting another thread now that I have some more information.
Hence, this is with the following: SUSE Linux 10.2 on x86_64 Xeon, 64-bit server running SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - SUSE - EN - iso-8859-1 plus the latest AlienBBC v2.00 Final. As of two days ago I am the proud owner of a Duet controller/receiver. Previously I was only using Softsqueeze. I can confirm that I have the same problem on the SBR as I do on Softsqueeze. The squeezecenter server machine gets rebooted every morning. After it has come up, none of the AlienBBC streams are playable. Symptoms as malum reported: "The PC interface shows the stream as playing and it starts counting as if it were playing (no sound though) after 7 seconds it resets to zero .." Curiously, if I then manually restart squeezecenter: /etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart (or stop then start) then AlienBBC starts working. So far (with limited testing) this appears to reliably be the case, hence there can't be anything hugely wrong with the installation. I have started to experiment with logging settings and would be grateful for some help with this plus diagnosis. With the AlienBBC stream failing after a standard boot-up, I turned on these logging settings: plugin.alienbbc to DEBUG , player.source to DEBUG. I then pressed Play in the web GUI. The relevant extract from /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log is attached.
