The symptom where thre stream seems to start and then stops a numer of
second later generally indicates that mplayer, lame/flac has failed to
connect and convert a stream. The reaons for Windows are different to
Linux ones as socketwrapper is used in Windows and a shell script is
used for Linux. So in this case it is not good to compare Windows
problems to Linux problems.

Also - there are other issues with Softsqueeze regarding startup - I
can see themn on my system - Softsqueeze has a delay while an Sb3 has
no delay. So I would prefer not to include Softsqueeze problems as I
think it is specific to Softsqueeze.

chris_x,

What version of mplayer are you using ?
Have you tested it standalone ?
Is flac provent to work on you 64bit systems as I think there were
problems on AMD 64 systems.

These messages indicate nothing is coming from the mplayer/flac chain.
The issues is to see does mplayer have an problem. If you change the
mplayer option "-really-quiet" to "-quiet" in the custom-convert.conf
file. Then you need to run SC from a shell prompt and not as a daemon.
Enable plugin.alienBBC logging to INFO. YOu will now get logging
message and mplayer message on the terminal from which ran SC. Copy
the mplayer messages.
