Could you enable debug logging for plugin.dynamicplaylist in SqueezeCenter Settings and post the log when you do play something and something else is playing so it won't switch. The behavior should be the same with SoftSqueeze as a real SqueezeBox. I've seen some problems where SoftSqueeze totally hangs when I launch a Dynamic Playlist but unless that is what you are seeing the behavior should be the same.
