Custom Browse refreshes it's caches every time a new version is installed. On my system this typically takes a number of seconds but always less than a minute. On a slower computer I would imagine that it could take several minutes, but the advantage is that it will make sure future squeezecenter restarts should be fairly fast and editing the menus in the web interface will be a lot faster than they would be without the caching.
If you have many libraries defined in Multi Library plugin with many menus per library, the time is multiplied once per library. Custom Scan and TrackStat does refreshes at startup but these shouldn't be any longer when you install a new version compared to just a normal restart of SqueezeCenter. So, if you have the problem everytime you restart SqueezeCenter, I would suggest that you enabled the debug logging in "SqueezeCenter Settings/Logging" for "plugin.trackstat" and "plugin.customscan". Make sure to check the checkbox that tells SqueezeCenter to remember the logging settings next restart. Restart SqueezeCenter and post the log here after it has started. This will give me more information about how long different steps take. If you are just having problem during upgrades it would be interesting to know: - Do you have many libraries ? - How long does it take, if you just wait until SqueezeCenter starts completely ? - What hardware are you running SqueezeCenter on ? Processor ? Memory ?
