Not sure what you meant by FTP test - i used an alternative ping.exe
utility called fping.exe that you can change delay times, packet sizes
etc. I flooded the route I was testing with large packets. I found
extremely good throughput on all cables and directions - in most cases
approaching the theoretical maximums with no lost packets - ever. The
trouble with ping is that it only tests the 'bottom' end of the
communication chain. If the CPU is busy - I would think it is still
possible to get good ping response - depending on how much intelligence
the network hardware interface has.

I'll try the network test on the duet and or transporter - assuming it
is available. The SB1 is much slower than the others - so I won't
bother with that. I'll also check the CPU loading and see if that gives
any clues.


Added comment. The whs server runs avast anti virus. I noticed your
comment on security above. Is this likely to be involved in some way?
