@Peter/Erland I tend to favor a single thread which is sticky for nomiating new plugins as then we can immediately see if there is new actvity on it and all users of the forum will know where to go to nominate something.
I agree with Erland - want to keep this simiple as it will hopefully be replaced by some all singing and dancing Wiki solution in future and I just want to get something up and running which works. @Phil Sha1 is for two things - to verify integrity of the file and to verify its the file which you intended someone to download. As it will be unziped and then executed on users servers and the downloaded files may be hosted in a variety of locations, I felt it was wise to minise the chance of ED being used as a method of spreading malicious code. If you use googlecode then they verify the file with a sha1 digest for you (though you are then trusting google).
