Puh, that's a kind of setup...

Actually I don't know of limitations in library size so far, but yours
is probably the biggest one I've heard of so far (as of the number of
albums, which is the critical point).

The REAL issue here is, that the ReadyNAS is not really a fast machine,
there are a lot of reports of it becoming pretty slow when delivering
data.

2. Unfortunately, iPeng has to reload the whole database everytime you
do a rescan. This is no iPeng limitation, SqueezeCenter is simply not
able to tell it what has changed. I filed an enhancement request on
this half a year ago but so far it's unclear, if and when it will be
implemented

3. Generally I would assume that plugins will slow down things instead
of speeding them up. With new schema (in SC 7.4) it may be possible to
implement an incremental update as a plugin, but I still hope this
functionality goes in natively.

Sorry that I cannot give you a more positive answer, but you really
have a combination of a very large library on a pretty low-spec NAS.

Does it help if you let iPeng just run for a while to load the database
(you should be able to see whether the whole database was loaded when
a) Album art starts to load
AND
b) (important in 1.0.4) you see that your album list is complete (Z...
is present).

If everything is loaded, I would quite iPeng (to make it save it's
cache) and restart it, actual operation of iPeng should not be affected
by the database size or the slowness of the NAS.
