Good spotting :-) Actually the "distortion" thing is probably the hardest part, but I'll address it sooner or later. I always scale up to 320x320, there's some aspects that make it not THAT easy to change this.
The pause symbol, that's a shadow that becomes rendered incorrectly by the button control. If I find some time, I change it and the movement is, indeed due to the trash symbol having a different size. The playlist update is slow, iPeng is currently just polling. Also, playlist updates transfer quite a bit of data, much more than the album or artist lists. Will get better over time...
