What about adding a CLI call via netcat to the "on wakeup command"
setting?  

Something like:

echo player1macaddr sync player2macaddr | nc -w 3 127.0.0.1 9090

I don't really know if that will work when one of the clients is
softsqueeze.  But if it does, you might want to just put that statement
in a script and reference the script in that "on wakeup command"
setting.  Don't forget to also reference the script in /etc/sudoers.
