Missing jnlp file was the problem. Sorry about that. I'm not sure how I deleted it but it was gone. I put it back in and softsqueeze now launches again.
I tried a bunch of stations and so far I haven't had a failure. softsqueeze menus are pretty slow when it is connected to a wma station but the station plays. Many stations seem to take a while (5 to 8 seconds) to connect but they all connect now. I've never seen it work this well before so I'm quite certain your fix is the reason.
