Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, it's very reproducible. But I don't have any clear steps - it
seems to occur for various kinds of folders (tracks or artists, and
different kinds - so not one particular set of files). 

No, the phone is not and has never been Jailbroken.

Thus far, iPeng only crashes immediately after an action, such as
entering a folder of albums or tracks - the longest I've waited for it
to crash after such an action is ~1 second.

I only have one player, and it has a name. The name shows up at the
bottom left corner of the main screen, for example.

I'll admit that I'm somewhat new to the SC server and I'm still not
sure things are working 100% smoothly - for example I see my music
library being somewhat out of sync (genre relationships) when comparing
an iPeng or a Duet Controller (which match) with the SC web GUI.
