Typically if microphone is configured as a playback device you will get feedback. So just because the device is on the list doesn't mean it is not causing any problem.
The issue is not "quality" but that wavin2cmd may not be able to take an audio feed from an incompatible source whereas if SoundForge has conversion routine - it may be able to use the source.
