Yea, no dedicated buttons on iPhone :-)
Another icon: Not going to happen. Already too little screen space.
What will probably happen in 1.2 is that for views other than the Album
or Playlist content ("Tracks") a "hold" will bring up a context menu
instead of issuing a command directly. You can then play or add from
that context menu.
For Tracks you can already do that now: If you set the icon on the top
to "Play" and issue a "hold" on a track, you will get the TrackInfo menu
which has an "Add" item.

That's different.
That said, it may be worth a try, didn't see it as move favorable to
change player vs. ringer volume, yet.

Good point. Yet I'm not too optimistic about getting it on the App
Store playing over EDGE or 3G, Apple has a stated policy of rejecting
this to avoid "excessive bandwidth use".
